Nicolò Bulega made headlines in the World Superbike tests that ended on Thursday in Jerez. In addition to setting the fastest time on both days, the rookie also broke the previous circuit record lap by clocking 1m37.809s.
In an interview with the championship’s official website, the Aruba.it Ducati rider confirmed that it was a satisfactory test: ‘It was a solid test. We tried something that I liked. The attack on the stopwatch was very good and the pace was good all day with the race tires. I am happy with the work we did during the first test of the year, and we will work hard for the next one. The lap time makes me very proud and very happy.[…] It is obvious that the lap was not easy to achieve. When I saw 1m37.8s on my screen, I was smiling!‘.
However, Bulega remains grounded, as he emphasized: ‘It’s just a test! It doesn’t change anything. I am still a rookie, I just want to enjoy my first season in WorldSBK.[…] I feel prepared. Yesterday not so much, but today with the race tire I improved a lot and I think we can do well. I hope my opponents are worried! Right now, I’m not sure, but I hope so!‘.
