Fourth on the third and final day of testing in Sepang, Álex Márquez was naturally happy with his time but reminded that he still doesn’t have any points in the championship yet.
The Spanish rider started by analyzing his performance on the third day, clearly excited: ‘Good attack on the times but I still have zero points in the championship, so it was for nothing. It is true that 1:56.9s is good and I am happy, but it is not a realistic lap time, with a lot of rubber on the track, very good weather conditions. In tests, we always have to draw conclusions from the right side, and the most important thing is that today we were able to do a Sprint simulation, to understand things, different settings’.
He then revealed that he is not particularly happy with some aspects of the bike, but that it is more important to understand that in order to find a way to solve it: ‘I was not very happy, right from the first day, with the traction control on this 2023 bike, we tried some things and understood some things, and that is the most positive thing, we understood some things, to analyze and arrive in Qatar more prepared’.
The overall balance was positive, he assures: ‘It was only three days and we are happy with how we worked’.
