It is with the desire to return to his best level after some difficulties in Sepang that Marco Bezzecchi travels to Lusail for the last two days of MotoGP testing before the start of the season. Fabio Di Giannantonio, his new teammate, will serve as inspiration… and help.

Asked about his goals, the Italian from Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team began by saying: ‘Well, I don’t know what to expect. The goal is to try to be better than in Malaysia, for sure, because I had a lot of difficulties there, especially on the last day, so I would like to come back and be fast. We worked a lot at home, analyzed the data a lot, everything, and planned what to do here. I hope for a positive test.’

Next, Bezz talked about his problems and the fact that this test is different from what he did in Malaysia, besides the season starting at the same circuit: ‘All the problems I felt on the bike I could see in the data, fortunately, and for me it was difficult to stop the bike and make it turn. Stopping depends a lot on the riding and if we stop well everything is easier. We saw everything and made a good plan for here. It is definitely a different test, the track is different, but the first race will also be here. We will have to work more on the races, let’s say, like we did in Sepang. It’s a bit similar to last year’s Portimão test, because we did the test and then raced there. It’s different.’

As for working with his new teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, the Italian added: ‘He has been very fast and I could see his data and learn everything he did better than me. Also, this track is very good for him, as he won here last year, so it will be interesting to try to learn from him. I have a good feeling being with him.’
